Nepali Music

Origins The rock music scene of Nepal originated with the arrival of hippies in the Kathmandu valley. The prime scene of Rock as well as Rock and Roll during those days used to be Jhochhen aka 'Freak Street' notorious for its marijuana and narcotics which attracted many a psychedelic rockers during the 70s. The first recorded Rock and Roll song of Nepal is "Diunlaa" by Kumar Basnet. The pioneers of Nepalese Rock scene were Mukti Shakya, Dev Rana (drummer) and various other singers and bands who emerged in the Freak Street scene in the Hippie era. Metal era With the advent of time, the rock scene in Nepal changed from the early rock and roll, Blues, rock to Punk and Metal. However, most of the bands that performed during metal era didn't produce many original songs and covered the songs of the West. Most Anticipated CDs of 2007

Hundreds of heavy metal CDs are released each year, but some are much more anticipated than others. It could be that the artist hasn't released a new CD in a few years, that it's a really popular artist, their last CD was so good you can't wait for the next one, or many other reasons. The following artists are scheduled to release new CDs in 2007, and it will be interesting to see if they live up to the increased expectations. 1. Metallica :Metallica's last album was 2003's St. Anger, released to much fanfare and an excellent documentary Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster that chronicled the making of that CD that wasn't very well received. The band has a new producer, Rick Rubin along with a new bassist Rob Trujillo. Metallica has been working on this CD for a while now and claim the songs take things back to the old school.
