Jason Becker: Story of the Paralysed star who composes with his eyes

We live thinking we will never die.We die thinking we had never lived.Cut it out. Jason Becker was born on July 22nd 1969 . At the age of only 16 he met Megadeth guitarist Marty Freidman, together they toured with Shrapnel Records in Japan . He then kicked off his amazing solo career in 1988 as He and Marty split to do their own things he released the infamous album "Perpetual Burn" which went Gold. Then in 1991 he landed the biggest gig of his career as lead guitarist for the legendary David Lee-Roth, at that same time he was diagnosed with ( Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis ) better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Which paralyzes the whole body and the disease only allows random movements in the body. While recording the 'A little aint enough' album his hands and legs were already slowing down, just one week after he was diagnosed. Jason can now only communicate through a system of movements in his eyes. Using this technique Jason has released another three albums. a...

BLACK ICE : NEW AC/DC ALBUM

Well...nothing new here. In fact these songs could be taken from ANY AC/DC album. I really mean that. They are so AC/DC in sound that they could be from 1979 or 1999. Now, the question is "Is this a good thing?"Sure why not! Rock and roll music right now pretty much sucks, so hearing new AC/DC tunes could never be a bad thing. They rock and roll, mostly from below the belt and that is all cool with me. I am not looking for music to change the world anymore. I want music that makes me happy and makes me tap my foot and sing. Maybe a fist punch to the sky during the guitar solo. Make me play air drums while I drive and you have a fan. All my favorite bands from the 1990's tanked it, so bring on AC/DC.

Opeth

Opeth is a progressive death metal band from Sweden. Opeth adds several lighter elements to their music with acoustic guitar interludes, and influences from jazz, 1970s progressive rock, blues and folk on top of a fast, churning death metal-esque sound. Vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt performs both clean singing and death vocals. Due to their unique blend of melodic and progressive elements, they are said not to conform to typical death metal acts, or any other specific metal sub-genre. Opeth has also attracted a lot of attention from doom metal fans. The name Opeth was taken from the novel Sunbird by author Wilbur Smith, and was originally spelled Opet. In the book, Opet is the name of the location for an ancient empire which translates to "City of the Moon" . Opeth was formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1990 by David Isberg. Isberg invited Mikael Åkerfeldt to join the band at a practice session as a bass player, but failed to inform the current bass player or any of the other members...

Cradle Of Filth's GODSPEED........ REVIEWS

The previous Cradle Of Filth album ‘Thornography’ showed a band cautiously experimenting and exploring new paths: a healthy and proper principle of every developing musician/band. The law of action and reaction predicts that one might expect something completely different now. In the brain of master lyricist Dani Filth the creation of a new concept album was growing at that time. Ten years after the captivating story of the Hungarian countess Elizabeth Bathory - the main theme on ‘Cruelty And The Beast’ - the most popular English black metal band has chosen the wealthy French nobleman Gilles de Rais as horrible subject to regale ‘Godspeed On The Devil’s Thunder’ with a lugubrious theme. This man was accused of dark occupations like alchemy, demonology, kidnapping, heresy and was mainly known as a serial killer who committed his crimes while praying obsessively to God. In brief: a blackened soul inspiring enough to create a new portion of supreme horror meta l. Musically Cradle Of Filth...

One handed Drumer : Rick allen, DEF LEPPARD

"Leppard Loses Skins": That was the headline on the ad that attracted 15-year-old drummer Rick Allen, who joined a fledgling British hard-rock band known as Def Leppard in 1978. Six years later, Allen lost something much more vital to a drummer than a little skin: his left arm.By 1984, Def Leppard had become one of the biggest bands in the world -- the most requested act on MTV, with an album ('Pyromania') boxed out of the No. 1 spot in the U.S. only by a little Michael Jackson success story called 'Thriller.' On New Year's Eve of that year, Allen was driving with his girlfriend to a family party in Sheffield, England, when he began racing with another driver in an Alfa Romeo. Infuriated by the other guy's audacity, he floored his Corvette Stingray to pass and couldn't negotiate a sudden bend in the road. The car crashed over a stone wall into a field, leaving the girlfriend hanging upside down by her seatbelt. When a passerby who happened to be a n...

THE BLACK METAL MEDLEY

Disturbed

Heavy metal band Disturbed came together through the matching of a band with a singer. Longtime friends Dan Donegan (guitar), Mike Wengren (drums), and Fuzz (bass) played together in Chicago for some time before hooking up with singer David Draiman around 1997. Draiman had grown up in a religious family against which he rebelled, being expelled from five boarding schools in his adolescence. His anger found an outlet in the thrashing sound of Disturbed, and the band built up a following on Chicago's South Side before a demo tape led to their signing to Giant Records, which released their debut album, The Sickness, in March 2000. The band gained more fans and exposure playing the main stage of the 2001 Ozzfest, then breaking away to do their own self-described "victory lap" around the U.S. that fall. Also during this period, they managed to record a vicious new version of wrestler Steve Austin's theme song that was so good it managed to receive radio play, and they wer...

NIGHTWISH

Assembling in the mid-'90s, in the town of Kitee, FINLAND, the Goth-Metal outfit Nightwish comprises a three-piece line-up of vocalist Tarja Turunen, Erno 'Emppu' Vuorinen on guitar+bass and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. In the spring of 1997 they were joined by drummer Jukka Nevalainen and soon after the band went into the studio to record some new songs. I n May 1997, Nightwish signed a recording contract with Spinefarm for two records. That August, the band went to the studio and recorded four new songs. Before the release of "Angels Fall First", the single called "The Carpenter" made it to #8 on the official Finnish Singles chart. "Angels Fall First" was finally released in early November and went #31 in Finland. With the arrival of bassist Sami Vänskä, Nightwish expanded to a five-piece ensemble and in December 1998 the group released their second studio record, "Oceanborn", which climbed into the top 5 of the Finnish Albums char...

DEATH MAGNETIC: SONG BY SONG REVIEW

That Was Just Your Life It begins with the sound of a slow beating heart, moves into a Sanitarium-flavoured piece of clean picking. Then all hell breaks loose. This is a Metallica that many thought they would never hear again – the lighting speed rhythm guitars of Blackened and a mighty James Hetfield with new found fire in his voice. It's the sound of a band who've suddenly recognised their strengths and are somehow bridging the gap between …And Justice For all and 1991's The Black Album. What a way to start. The End Of The Line The main riff here will be instantly recognisable to some fans – it's been salvaged from 'The Other Song' that Metallica debuted live during 2006 (and then trashed). It's much more at home in the intro here, the first of a smorgasbord of riffs in this powerhouse – including a recurring hook that is reminiscent of Pearl Jam's Animal. Kirk Hammett seems to have developed a guilty conscience for the last ten years and is soloing fo...
