Antim Grahan

With almost an apocalyptical name, Black Metallers Antim Grahan has returned once again to scorch the underground scene of Nepal. Formed in the early 2004, Black Metallers Antim Grahan rise from Kathmandu. The band took a hiatus for about 2 and half years when the front man of the band went abroad for his further studies, but as now he has returned, they are back in business with a few line up changes. Fronted by the vocalist Parash, Antim Grahan is Pankaj on guitars, Sunny on bass, Niraj on keys and Sabin on drums. The band has undergone a few line up changes as few of their members left the band due to their personal reasons. The band took out an EP titled 'Forever Winter' which was a joint production of KTMROCKS RECORDS, Mingmar Dolma Lama and Antim Grahan. Antim Grahan is the first band to have a record deal in the history of Nepali metal scene. They got the label of KTMROCKS RECORDS which happened to be the first record company in Nepal for the local underground metal s

Why Metal Fans are Brainer ?

Metal Fans At Ozzfest As Metallica once said, let it be written. It's not the students who love Radiohead that are likely to be the brainiest in their University but the kid down the hall with the Tool t-shirt and a fixation with the floor. A study published today reveals that a disproportionate number of members in the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth (a body of 120,000 students which represents the top 5% of academic achievement) list heavy metal - or "metal", as its devotees these days know it - as their favourite kind of music. Should we be surprised that people who spend a good deal of their day headbanging should be the ones who later in life will get their heads around nuclear fission? Of course we shouldn't. Metal in 2007 no longer concerns itself with silver spandex strides and songs about dragons. Instead it manages to be challenging and uncommercial, exactly the kind of thing a kid who stands apart from the mainstream would find appeali

Gloomy sunday: A lyrics that can kill you

The songwriter, Rezso Ser-ess and his girl friend died by suicide themselves. One who hear this song will suicide themself. The song is released in 1933. GENRES OF METAL

In this list I will stay as basic as possible, and only deal with the genres that are widely used and accepted by both labels and reviewers to classify metal. Traditional : Often called "True Metal", sometimes "Classic" or just "Heavy Metal", this is the genre that was there before all the others. The proliferation of genres didn't begin until the first big metal wave began to crest in the mid 80's, and before that all metal bands were just "Heavy Metal". Hard and fast standards are hard to pin down here. Most Traditional Metal bands play music at least partially inspired by early pioneers like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Manowar. There is a definite focus on two-guitar harmonies, aggressive riffs, and powerful clean vocals with a lot of emphasis on the upper ranges. Songs with "Barbarian" and "Metal" in the title are pretty much customary, and songs about Metal as a musical form and way of life are common. An exce

Top Megadeth Songs

These are my top megadeth songs: Holy Wars... The Punishment Due - Rust in Peace “This song is a all-time great and one of the hardest songs to play.” Hangar 18 - Rust in Peace “That song is almost, if not perfect. The way the main riff blends into the solos is amazing. Every single riff on the song is the kind of riff that would get the greatest riff ever award. Flawless metal song.” Symphony of Destruction - Countdown to Extinction “one of the best songs overall 9.3 out of 10.0.. A Tout Le Monde - Youthanasia “Such a powerful song, the lyrics, the music, everything.” Tornado of Souls - Rust in Peace Peace Sells - Peace Sells...But Who’s Buying? Sweating Bullets - Countdown to Extinction Kick the Chair - The System has Failed “Megadeth’s return to form is embodied in this visceral speed demon.” Trust - Cryptic Writings Take No Prisoners - Rust in Peace “take no prisoners has everything you need for a metal song. heavy distortion, awesome singing, great solo at the end

BEST GRUNGES

10 Days Of The New - Touch, Peel And StandA very quaint band, led by a young, depressed man called Travis Meeks. After their debut album, containing this song, was released, he sacked the whole band, and produced two more albums all by himself. All three albums are eponymous. Weird guy. This song stands out because amid all the electric guitar murk of grunge, this is completely acoustic. Not to say it's not heavy - in fact, this tale of seething anger is more chilling with the acoustic guitars banging away. Spine-tingling moment: The beautiful guitar solo, a rarity in grunge. 9 Mudhoney - OverblownThe prime jokesters of grunge, Mudhoney's sarcasm knows no boundaries. This one, on the Singles OST, gives the finger to all the posers who hopped onto the grunge bandwagon. It's hilarious, and scathing in its attack. Spine-tingling moment: The final verse: "Everybody loves us, everybody's getting kind of old, couldn't hold a regular job, long live rock and roll!&qu

Interview with Dimmu Borgir Band Member

Dimmu Borgir, the world famous Black-Metal Band from Norway, released their new Album called “PURITANICAL EUPHORIC MISANTHROPIA”. We spoke with Bass player Simen Hestnaes on the phone and he told us all about the new Album. Here’s what the Norwegian Leaders in Black-Metal these days have to say… First of all congratulations for your new album "PURITANICAL EUPHORIC MISANTHROPIA" Thanks. After the time consuming and exhausting line up changes how do you feel about your new album? I think it’s a real killer, with all the good sound and everything and also all the things we did in the studio. Despite the fact of the many line-up changes generally very happy about it. Galder has contribute d a lot in this album a lot by writing riffs and stuff. Having heard the album, it seems to be the most aggressive, raw and least melodic album since "ENTHRONED DARKNESS TRIUMPHANT" why has there been such a tremendous change in the sound? Well most of all because of the studio

What is Grunge ?

Where Does Grunge Come From? Grunge was born of the local Punk scene of the Pacific Northwest, most notably Seattle, Washington, in the late 1980s. At a time when Glam Rock and Hair Metal were popular nationally, a group of young Punk bands in Seattle began to experiment with an aesthetic that was less flamboyant. These musicians were influenced by a local band, The Melvins, that played Heavy Metal with slower and heavier riffs. A local scene sprung up with this sound, as did the first Grunge record label, Sub Pop Records. Who Played Grunge? Initially, Sub Pop began to promote bands that shared a certain anti-glam aesthetic -- often characterized by casual dress, ripped jeans, flannel jackets and an overall unkempt appearance -- and that played this new style of Punk/Metal. Early Grunge bands included the lesser-known Green River (whose lead-singer is credited with first using the term "Grunge"), Mudhoney and Mother Love Bone and the break-through acts Nirvana, Soundgarde

SLIPKNOT

Early Days: Slipknot formed in 1995 in Des Moines, Iowa. The 9 piece band at first didn't use names, but the numbers 0 through 8. They also wore homemade Halloween type masks on stage. After recording a demo in 1996 they drew the attention of several labels. They signed with Roadrunner Records and released their self-title debut album in 1999. Success: Slipknot immediately began drawing legions of fans with their intense brand of alt metal/nu-metal and live shows. Appearing on Ozzfest in 1999 was a big help as well. Their debut album went platinum and their second album, 2001's >Iowa debut at number 3 on the album chart. Top Of The Charts: Proving they weren't a flash in the pan, Slipknot's third album, 2004's Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses) debuted at number two on the album chart. The group also released a live album in 2005 called 9.0: Live. Slipknot remains one of the best selling current metal bands. Current Slipknot Band Members: Corey Taylor - Vo

WHAT IS DEATH METAL ?

Death metal evolved from thrash metal and also took some of the extreme elements of black metal. The fast tempos of thrash were kept, but blast beats were added to make it even more brutal. The aggressive vocals of thrash became the screaming unintelligible "cookie monster" vocals of death metal. The genre arose simultaneously in the U.S., especially in Florida, and in Europe. A multitude of subgenres later splintered off from death metal, such as melodic death metal. Death metal and its variants are probably the most popular form of metal today. Musical StyleIn one word, brutal. Death metal is intense and fast, usually utilizing a double bass drum and dual distorted guitars. Vocal Style The vocals are what make death metal distinctive. Instead of singing, death metal vocalists use a low-pitched guttural growl that is nearly impossible to understand. The lyrical content is almost always dark and/or apocalyptic. Pioneers Death It only makes sense that a band called D
